A bridal shower sign in blush rose reading: the bridal shower photo hunt, scan for your first mission
One sign on the gift table starts the whole hunt.

Most bridal shower games are played sitting down: a quiz, a word search, guessing the bride's answers. A photo scavenger hunt gets people moving, mixing and laughing, and it works for a group of eight or of eighty. It also leaves the bride with something the other games don't: photos of the afternoon, taken by everyone who was there.

Why a photo hunt works at a shower

  • No paper to hand out, no pens to find, no answer sheets to mark. Guests already carry the camera.
  • Every age can play. The prompts are things to spot or arrange, not trivia only the bridesmaids know.
  • It mixes the groups. Teams of guests who don't know each other, with a list that needs them to talk.
  • The bride gets the photos, all in one place, instead of a few in the group chat.

How to set it up: two ways to play

Pick 15 to 30 prompts from the list below (or write your own — a few about the bride make it personal), add them to a new event on PhotoChallenge, and choose how guests get them:

  • A relaxed hunt that runs all afternoon: one QR code. One sign on the gift table. Each scan hands a guest a mission, and after every upload the next one appears. Nothing to manage, and the gallery shows what's been found so far.
  • A timed team race: printed cards. Every prompt gets its own card with its own QR code. Lay the cards out on a hunt table; a team takes a card, gets the photo, scans that card to send it in and puts the card back. Every photo arrives labelled with its prompt.

Design the sign or cards in your shower colours, print, and scan one yourself the day before to check a test photo arrives. The free test run holds 5 prompts with one photo each, enough to try everything. For a race where every team shoots every prompt you'll want Standard (€49, paid once), which takes unlimited photos per prompt.

Teams, time limits and prizes

  • Teams of three to five, mixing friends from different parts of the bride's life.
  • Twenty to thirty minutes is enough; set a timer and stick to it.
  • Points: one per prompt, two for the hard ones, a bonus for the photo that makes the bride laugh.
  • Prizes: something small for the winning team, and the bride picks her favourite photo of the day. With “Ask guests for their name” turned on (paid plans), every photo carries the photographer's name, so scoring takes a minute.
  • The reveal: open the gallery on a TV or laptop before the cake and scroll through together.

Guests who can't be there

A photo hunt is one of the few shower games a far-away guest can join. The QR code is just a link: send it to them in the group chat, and they can photograph their own prompts at home — the bride's favourite drink, a photo of the two of them from years ago, their best toast to the camera — and it lands in the same gallery as everyone else's.

Other shower games that pair well

  • How well do you know the bride? A quiz, played sitting down after the hunt.
  • He said, she said. Quotes from the couple; guests guess who said what.
  • Bridal bingo. Squares for the gifts the bride is likely to open. Or turn it into photo bingo.
  • Advice cards for the couple, to read on their first anniversary.

Frequently asked questions

How do you do a photo scavenger hunt at a bridal shower?

Give guests a list of things to photograph, split them into small teams, set a 20- to 30-minute time limit, and collect the photos in one shared gallery through a QR code. Show the best photos before the cake.

What should be on a bridal shower photo scavenger hunt list?

A mix of prompts about the bride (her laughing, a selfie with her, her ring), the guests (the oldest and youngest together, two people who just met), the party (the cake, a toast) and a few silly ones (a bouquet that isn't flowers).

Can you do a bridal shower scavenger hunt without paper?

Yes. Put the prompts behind a QR code: each guest scans it with their phone, sees a prompt, takes the photo and sends it to the shared gallery. Nothing to print except one sign.

How long should a bridal shower photo scavenger hunt last?

Twenty to thirty minutes for a timed team game. Without teams, the prompts can stay open for the whole shower and guests photograph them as they go.

Can guests who aren't at the shower take part?

Yes. The QR code is a link, so you can send it to far-away guests, and their photos land in the same gallery as everyone else's.
